Dezeen Watch Store: first up in our new Dezeen Watch Store collection for 2012 is Proton, a watch with a rigid bangle strap by Hong Kong brand Ziiiro.

Similar to Ziiiro’s earlier models Aurora and Celeste, Proton tells the time with colour. The watch face consists of two disks, one yellow and one blue, in place of hands. These disks move over each other as time passes, creating a graduated mix of colour on the face at different times of the day.

As if painting a masterpiece using a standard paintbrush wasn’t challenging enough, artist Tyree Callahan decided he needed a new and unique method for applying paint. His approach? Transform a 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter into a painting device by replacing each of the ink pads with colored paint pads and relabel the corresponding key with the same color in place of letters.
